The new imgCIF workshop series has been sponsored in part
by DOE under grant ER64212-1027708-0011962, NSF under grant
DBI-0610407, and NIH under grant 1R13RR023192-01A1.
There will be a workshop on Raw Image Formats in Structural Biology on 22 May 2007 at:
Over the past 2 years, imgCIF has seen increasing use, and the interactions among raw image formats for x-ray crystallography, neutron crystallography and microscopy have started to be addressed. This one-day meeting will be a follow-up to the 2006--2007 imgCIF workshops at the summer 2006 ACA meeting, at BNL in May 2007, and in summer 2007 in conjunction with BSR 2007 in Manchester and at the Diamond Light Source.
We will have reviews of the current status of imgCIF, exploration of ways to move between imgCIF and NeXus using XML and HDF and ways to work with microscopy and tomography images.
The morning will be used for presentations and the afternoon for discussions and plans for the future. There is no registration fee, but space is limited, so registration will be required. Lunch will be provided. If you are interested in participating, please email bnl_imgcif_may08@medsbio.org no later than 15 April 2008.

Once a participant has an approved guest number, then we can request on-site housing in the Guest House ($103/night) or the participant can make their own arrangements with a (sort of) nearby hotel. Keep in mind that if you stay in a hotel, you will need a rental car for transportation to BNL unless you can make other arrangements with the hotel (some of them have shuttle service).
The hotels that visitors usually stay at are:
Hampton Inn Brookhaven 2000 North Ocean Ave Farmingville, NY 11738 (631) 732-7300 Located off exit 63 of the LIE Hampton Inn home page http://www.hamptoninnbrookhaven.com/ Radisson Hotel MacArthur Airport 1730 North Ocean Avenue Holtsville, NY 11742 (631) 758-2900 Exit 63 off the Long Island Expressway (LIE) Radisson homepage http://www.radisson.com/holtsvilleny Holiday Inn Express 1707 Route 58 Riverhead, NY 11901 (631) 727-2846 Holiday Inn homepage http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/ex/1/en/hotel/rihed;jsessionid=3DUSVG2H3=
Those needing support for their travel arrangements to attend should contact the meeting organizers at BNL_imgCIF_May08@medsbio.org and we will try to help.
